Candidate for U.S. House

I created this video during the 2018 election primary season to educate voters on one of the candidates in the race for the U.S. House of Representatives in Georgia District 10. I conducted the interviews, attended the candidate's event to get b-roll, and edited the video with Final Cut Pro. The process of creating this video taught me a lot about how to properly conduct interviews while on camera and how to effectively compile it into a final video.

Football game coverage video

As a junior, I developed my football knowledge through writing the football beat. As a senior, I used my stored knowledge to create something more than a sports news article: I decided to create a football game coverage video. For this video, I arrived to the game early to set up our equipment. Throughout the game, I took notes about major plays and score updates. I was the on-camera talent before the game, at halftime, and after the game, as well as filming much of the b-roll for the video.

Before Baldwin video

For one of the multimedia components in the online package for the feature story I wrote titled "Before Baldwin", I helped with the creation of a video. I conducted the interview of our source for the video, and I helped plan the shots and composition of different frames.

Confederate monument story promo video

Another form of broadcast I have done during my journalistic career is creating short videos to promote my articles via social media. This example is a promotional video in which I went to the Athens Confederate Monument with former Managing Editor Delia Adamson to film me talking about my story. Posting videos like these on the ODYSSEY social media accounts encourage viewers to read our magazine.
